William Douglas Cravalho

August 4, 1934 — April 4, 2026

Providence, Utah

William Douglas Cravalho (“Bill”), 91, passed away on April 4, 2026, at his home in Providence, Utah.

He was born on August 4, 1934, in Kula, Maui, Hawaii, to Annie and Domingo Cravalho, the second of three children. Bill spent his early years in the islands, where he developed a lifelong love of the outdoors—climbing coconut trees, fishing, surfing, and swimming. More often than not, he could be found in the ocean rather than in school. At the age of seven, after moving to Honolulu, he witnessed the bombing of Pearl Harbor from the roof of his home, watching planes fly so low he could see the pilots’ faces.

Following his parents’ divorce, his mother married Robert Lee Wilson, and the family relocated to Long Beach, California. As soon as he was of age, Bill enlisted in the United States Air Force, where he served four years on active duty and received an honorable discharge. He later worked as a civilian at Hill Air Force Base for 30 years as an aircraft sheet metalist. Over the course of his career, he helped usher in the jet era, beginning with the F-86 and later contributing to the maintenance of F-4 and F-16 fighter jets—a role he took great pride in, especially his work on the F-4s.

On March 15, 1957, Bill married his sweetheart, Arlean Leonhardt. One year later, they were sealed for time and all eternity in the Logan Utah Temple. Together, they built a loving home and raised three children: one son and two daughters. Family was the center of Bill’s life, and he was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.

An active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Bill faithfully attended the Providence 1st Ward. He served for many years in the Scouting program and as a leader in the High Priests Group. He gave countless hours of service to his neighbors and community, always selfless and never seeking recognition.

Throughout his life, Bill found great joy in gardening, hunting, fishing, and spending time outdoors. He also raised chickens and took pride in caring for them. He enjoyed attending the local Cruise-In, where he loved admiring classic cars and sharing stories of his favorites, including his 1936 Ford Coupe and his 1954 Studebaker.

Bill is survived by his beloved wife of 69 years, Arlean; his children, Trina Phipps (Steve) of Cove, Utah; Terry Cravalho (Kristi) of Whitney, Idaho; and Tanlee Willis (Craig) of North Logan, Utah; as well as six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his two sisters, Victoria Davis and Shirley Ydrogo.

A funeral service for Bill will be held on Saturday, April 11, 2026, at 11:00 a.m., with a visitation held before the funeral service from 9:00 to 10:30 a.m. at White Pine Funeral Services, 753 South 100 East, Logan, Utah. Interment will follow at the Providence Cemetery.

Bill will be remembered for his deep love of family, his selfless service, and the quiet strength with which he lived his life. His legacy of kindness and generosity will continue in the lives of all who knew and loved him.
