Wayne Edward Boyer

Sep 16, 1946 — Aug 6, 2026

There was a wonderful reunion with beloved family members and friends as Wayne Edward Boyer of Paradise, Utah passed away on August 6, 2026. Wayne was born on September 16, 1946 to Raymond Littleton and Florence Lucille Boyer of Lafayette, Indiana.

Growing up Wayne was active in the First Christian Church of Lafayette, Indiana. He also participated in a local troop where he achieved the rank of Eagle Scout in the Boy Scouts of America.

After graduating from Jefferson High School in 1965, Wayne went to community college for two years. He dropped out of college in 1967 and began nearly 40 years of service in the US Armed Forces. He enlisted and served on active duty in the US Marine Corps. He followed that with further service in the US Army Reserve, US Air Force Reserve and US Navy Reserve.

Wayne joined The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints while stationed in Guantanamo Bay, Cuba as a young US Marine. He was baptized in the bay and lived the rest of his days as a faithful disciple of Jesus Christ.

While attending Utah State University, he met the love of his life and was sealed in the Logan, Utah LDS Temple on June 7, 1973, to Kathryn Marie Olsen Boyer of Smithfield, Utah. They built a home south of Paradise, Utah where they raised 6 children. Dad taught us how to work hard by gardening and raising animals.

Wayne graduated from Weber State University with a bachelor’s degree in law enforcement. In early 1974, he went to work for the Cache County Sheriff’s Office as a Deputy Sheriff and retired in 2006. Public service was an important part of Wayne’s life through his military service, a law enforcement career, and a member of the Paradise Volunteer Fire Department.

From 2013 to 2015, Wayne and Kathryn served as service missionaries, using the Daily Dos program to teach English to non-English speakers.

He was preceded in death by his parents Ray and Lucille, his older sister Ida Drucilla, his son Franklin Christopher, and son-in-law Evan Hunting. He is survived by his wife Kathryn and his 5 children and their spouses: Christine (Jesse) Cole, Raymond (Tara) Boyer, Robert (Nickolee) Boyer, Becky (Evan) Hunting and Jonathan (Jeny) Boyer. Additionally, he is survived by18 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.
