Steven Burt Webb Albretsen was born December 16, 1952, son of Jule and Guelda Albretsen of Hyrum, Utah. He passed away on September 27, 2025, battling kidney failure and COVID.
Steve was raised on a farm and had a happy childhood. He learned the joy of working with his hands and feeling satisfaction in a job well done. In junior high and high school, he thrived on the social aspects of school and was well-liked by classmates and peers. Steve took accelerated courses, excelled in debate, enjoyed theater, and loved working on cars.
It was during high school that he met the love of his life: Kristine Nelson. Steve tells the story of meeting her at the drive-in restaurant when she came to his car window to take his order. He was dumbstruck by her beauty, and his buddy had to nudge him to stop staring and order his food. It was literally love at first sight. They were married a few months after high school graduation in the Logan Temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Together, they raised 4 children in Hyrum, Utah, serving faithfully in church worship and various callings.
Steve was a jack-of-all-trades and had many interests and hobbies. He was an actor, grocer, carpenter, farmer, meatcutter, forklift driver, auto mechanic, Inventory Control Specialist, Telecommunications Coordinator, and even in his retirement, a pizza delivery driver. He loved hunting and camping with his boys, and going to Moab for the Jeep Safari. He was often found tinkering in his shop with his latest projects.
He is preceded in death by his wife Kristine, parents Jule and Guelda, and siblings Karma Rae, Bruce, Gloria, and Cheryl. He leaves behind siblings Margene and Peggy, as well as his children Jule (Phoebe), Desirae Eastmond, Heather Hicken (Tom), and Keith (Kellianne). His 24 grandchildren will miss their “Grandpa Steve,” but are so happy that he has reunited with “Grandma Kris.”
