Stephen Joseph Smith peacefully passed away on Sunday August 2, 2026. He was the first born son of Robert J Smith and Marilyn Nielsen Smith of Hyrum. He was raised in Hyrum, Utah and lived most of his life in Cache Valley Utah. He graduated from high school, he first started working for his grandpa Nielsen in the carpentry business, building homes and learned many life skills there. He also worked with his dad and brothers in the tree removal business and also in the Robert J Smith Construction Company. He also worked for EA Millers as a security guard. Other than a few years in Oregon working, he moved back to Cache Valley, and there is where he resided.
Stephen met and married the love of his life, Connie Roskelly Tribe. And they enjoyed many wonderful years together. Stephens happiness in his life was his family, he loved his brothers, sisters, grandparents, nieces, and nephews. He loved being in the mountains, camping, fishing, and hunting. He loved the quietness of nature. He will be forever loved and missed by his family.
Surviving are his mother Marilyn Nye, sisters Christine (Jim) Jenson, Tricia (Jason) Crook, brothers, Bruce (Jodie) Smith, Terry (Wendy) Smith, Dennis (Dianna) Smith.
Stephen was preceded in death by his wife Connie Roskelly Tribe, his father Robert J Smith, his brother Ted Nelton Smith, and his nephew Jason Lasell Crook II.
A viewing will be held Friday August 7, 2026 from 12:00-1:00 P.M. at White Pine Funeral Home. Following the viewing, there will be a funeral service held at 1:30 P.M. Stephen will be interred at the Hyrum City Cemetery.
