Sharen Ward Harris, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully on July 5, 2025, just three days before her 85th birthday. Her life was marked by quiet strength, steady faith, and a deep love for her family.
Sharen was born on July 8, 1940, in Brigham City, Utah, to Dorothy H. and Welton O. Ward. In her early years, her family moved to Washington state and later settled in the San Bernardino, California area. Life changed profoundly when she lost her father at the age of eleven. In the years that followed, Woodrow Scott of Logan, Utah, stepped in as a father figure—offering love, security, and a guiding presence to Sharen, her mother, and her sister.
A proud Aggie, Sharen attended Utah State University, where she developed a lifelong love for learning and a commitment to doing things well. On April 2, 1959, she married the love of her life, Larry H. Harris. They began their life together in Garden City, Idaho, and in 1966, moved to Hyrum, Utah—a place that became the center of their family’s love, laughter, and countless adventures. Their home echoed with the happy noise of three energetic sons—Lee, Ted, and Rex—and the door was always open to their many friends.
Sharen found joy in the outdoors and made every camping trip, Lake Powell vacation, or days at the sand dunes a fun-filled experience for all. Whether wrangling kids, preparing meals for a crowd, or offering a warm hug at the end of a dusty day, she created an environment where everyone felt welcome and loved.
Professionally, Sharen worked at the Clearfield Cheese Plant and later retired from Schreiber Foods, where she served as a respected supervisor. Her calm leadership, strong work ethic, and attention to detail earned the admiration of coworkers and friends alike.
After retirement, she and Larry embraced the snowbird lifestyle—spending winters in Arizona and later settling in Washington City, Utah. There, they were warmly welcomed by the members of the Washington Fields Sixth Ward. Larry passed away in 2013, and though Sharen deeply missed him, she continued to find joy in family, service, and her passions.
She loved genealogy and spent countless hours indexing and extracting names to support temple work—a cause dear to her heart. She served faithfully in many callings within the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and remained a quiet example of steadfast discipleship throughout her life.
A devoted matriarch, Sharen cherished her role as grandmother to four grandchildren and great-grandmother to eleven great-grandchildren. She found joy in their successes, comforted them in their challenges, and celebrated every birthday and milestone with love and enthusiasm. Her influence endures in the lives of her posterity—rooted in kindness, resilience, and unwavering devotion to family and faith.
Sharen is survived by her three sons: Lee & Kaye Lyn Harris of Millville, Utah; Ted & Susan Harris of Kaysville, Utah; Rex Harris of Hyrum and Washington City, Utah. She is also survived by her grandchildren: Matthew & Andrea Harris of Saratoga Springs, Utah; Kaylee & Ethen Anthony of Nibley, Utah; Allyson & Dan Hayward of Houghton, Louisiana; Nikkole & Mike Kelley of Layton, Utah...and eleven cherished great-grandchildren.
Additional survivors include her sister, Lenore Browne of Georgia; five nephews and their families; and two brothers-in-law: Doyle & Cindy Harris of Roy, Utah, and Keith Harris of Pocatello, Idaho.
Sharen’s warmth, grace, and enduring testimony touched the lives of all who knew her. She will be remembered for her gentle heart, her deep compassion, and her unwavering example of Christlike love.
She is deeply loved and will be profoundly missed.
The family wishes to express heartfelt gratitude to the doctors, nurses, and CNA’s at Maple Springs Living Center for the kind and attentive care they gave to Sharen during her final year.
A graveside service for Sharen will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 12, 2025, at the Brigham City Cemetery. The family extends heartfelt thanks to White Pine Funeral Services for their compassionate care and assistance.
