Roxie Gibson Hull Winn

August 8, 1941 — January 20, 2024

Salt Lake City, Utah

A bright star in our family dimmed when Roxie left us to join family and friends on the other side of the veil. She passed away peacefully from cancer at her home on January 20, 2024.

Roxie’s parents are Cluff and Jane Gibson. She was born in the home of her Miles grandparents in Banida, Idaho, on August 8, 1941. Her parents raised her for the first four or five years of her life on the Fort Hall Indian Reservation near Pocatello, Idaho, where her father rented land from the Indians. In 1945 they moved to a 120-acre farm in Winder, Idaho, where Roxie lived until she graduated from high school. She graduated from LDS Business College.

Roxie married Richard Warren Hull on February 15, 1961 (divorced). They are the parents of Shane Richard (deceased), Cody Lee (deceased), Travis Britton, and Devin Gibson (Lynn Klos); and grandparents of Nicole Hull (Cody Judkins), Jesse Hull, Natalie Hull Williams (Mikey Williams), Brooke Hull, and Anthony Hull (deceased); great grandparents of Riley Peterson, Haylee Peterson Bright (Andrew Bright), Daman Peterson, Maddy Hull, Taliyah Williams, Kajyah Williams, Xander Williams, Jayden Williams; and great grandparents of Nixon Bright and Cohen Bright. Roxie later married Orrin Winn and they were divorced. She worked as a secretary and in payroll for many years at Associated Foods in Salt Lake.

Roxie described herself as friendly (no one she met was a stranger), welcoming, accepting of others, nonjudgmental, positive, interested in others, happy, faithful, with a sure knowledge that prayers are answered, and that Heavenly Father is mindful of each one of us.

She was a master at handwork -- knitting, crocheting, tatting, netting. Roxie is one of a kind -- beautiful, flashy, fun, funny, and optimistic. She loved life, the beauty of the wonderful world around her, the scriptures, her children, her grandchildren, her great-grandchildren, her friends, and her siblings (Echo Stocks, Chet Gibson (deceased), Mira Thatcher, Kim Gibson, Jill Jamison, and Tyona Atkinson). She loved being in her home with her belongings, especially when Brooke was there with her. Roxie blessed many individuals throughout her life as she served and cared for the sick and those in need. There are many who called her blessed, and say that at critical times in their lives, she was there for them, loving them, counseling them, serving them, and helping them change their lives and survive. Their love for her is deep and forever.

Her faith in the Savior and in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints was unfaltering. She served in many Church callings throughout her life, most recently in Rosedale Ward in Salt Lake City as Relief Society Secretary, followed by teaching Primary for several years. She was released from that calling in December. She dearly loved the children she taught.

A funeral service for Roxie will take place on Thursday, February 1, 2024, at 11:00 AM at the Rosedale Ward, 1148 W 500 N, Salt Lake City, Utah, 84116. A visitation will be held prior to the service from 9:30 to 10:30 AM at the church.  The interment will be at the Smithfield City Cemetery in Smithfield, Utah.
