Robert Keith Downs

Our husband, dad, grandfather and great grandfather passed away on April 20, 2023, a week before is 93rd birthday. 

He was born to Arthur E and Birdie C Downs on April 27, 1930. He married Reta Lamb in the Logan Temple on November 9, 1950. He was called to serve in the military. He served for two years in Germany. When Bob returned home he met his son Brent for the first time who was a year and a half old.

On his return home he attended Utah State University. He received hiss Bachelors Degree in Elementary Education.  He was a teacher for thirty-two years. 

He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. His favorite calling was being Cub Scout Leader for five years. He loved the boys. They had fun together with the games he made for them, especially the marshmallow guns. 

At Christmas he made wood toys for all his grandchildren and the neighborhood kids also. 

He is survived by his wife, Reta Downs; children, Brent (Kathy) Downs, son-in-law Dennis Darley, Sue (Michael) Grunig, Dorothy (Doug) Corbridge, and Jennifer (Mark) Stephens; 17 grandchildren; 39 great grandchildren; and two great great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Barbara Darley; granddaughter, Melinda Downs; his parents; and all eleven siblings. 

He will be greatly missed but we have been blessed to have him for so many years. 

A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, April 25, 2023 at 12 noon at the North Park 7th Ward, 65 E Center St. Hyde Park, with a viewing prior from 10:00 am to 11:30 am. Interment to follow at the Hyde Park Cemetery.
