The family of Michael "Mike" Loren Egan is deeply saddened to announce his passing on March 23, 2026 from cardiac arrest.
Mike was born in Downey, Idaho on October 25, 1950 to Loren Gunter and Elva Ruth Underwood Egan. He was raised in Arimo, Idaho where he developed a love for farming and sports. He graduated from Idaho State University with a Bachelors’ Degree in Agricultural Economics.
Mike met his sweetheart, Maxine Hatch, on a blind date. They were married in the Logan, Utah temple on April 27, 1979. They had three sons that they raised in Spring Creek, Nevada where Mike worked at the Newmont gold mine.
Mike was devoted to his family and church. He loved taking his boys hiking and hunting in the mountains and never missed any of his their sporting activities. He served as a High Priest Group Leader, Counselor in a Bishopbric, Scout Leader, and High Councilman for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.
After a long career, Mike and Maxine retired in Providence, Utah. They were able to complete two senior couple missions to the Dakotas and Michigan. Mike enjoyed serving as a temple worker in the Logan, Utah temple, working on house projects, cheering on the Aggies, reading history books, and boxing.
Mike was preceded in death by his father and mother, Loren Gunter & Elva Ruth Egan and his sisters and brother, Kay Johnson, Gayle Egan, Kathy Johnson.
Mike is survived by his loving wife Maxine (Hatch) Egan, 46 years of marriage; his son Mark Egan and his wife, Holly, of Harrisville, UT; son Case Egan and his wife, Lauri, of Cincinnati, OH; son Adam Egan and his wife Julia, of Providence, UT; twelve grandchildren, Bennett Egan, Carson Egan, Gavin Egan, Macey Egan, Carter Egan, Ellie Egan, Anthony Egan, Georgia Egan, Eleanor Egan, Ransom Egan, Everett Egan, and Baby Egan; and one sister-in-law Bobby Egan.
A service will be held at 12:00 PM on Saturday, March 28, 2026 at the Cobblestone 2nd Ward LDS chapel, located at 420 West 100 North in Providence, Utah. A viewing prior to the service will be held from 10:00 - 11:30 AM. Interment will be on Monday, March 30 at 10:00 AM at the Arimo City Cemetery in Arimo, Idaho.
