Maxine Jorgensen Petersen

January 28, 1947 — February 6, 2023

Providence

Maxine Jorgensen Petersen passed away February 6, 2023 at Cache Valley Assisted Living in Providence surrounded by family & friends.

Maxine was born January 28, 1947 to Cleon Alverdo & Margaret Emma Larsen Jorgensen in Logan, Utah. She was the fifth child born into this family. She was welcomed home by four siblings Garry, Keith, Ray & Joyce.

Maxine attended Hyde Park Elementary, Smithfield Jr. High, North Cache High A few friends of hers that I have talked with since her passing told me she was quite a character. Of course we already knew that.

Maxine graduated from Sky View High School, Class of 65. After graduating she went to work for Sunshine Terrace. It was at this time she met the love of her life, Albert C Petersen of Providence, Utah and they were married September 29, 1967. They lived in Garden City for a while. Then they moved back to Cache Valley. Maxine got a job at Wurlitzer Company in Logan. She worked there until the plant closed. She then worked at Weathershield until she retired.

It was while she was working for Weathershield that Albert passed away on March 13, 1993. Maxine has endured the loss of Albert for 30 years. Oh what a wonderful reunion they must be sharing.

Albert & Maxine never had the opportunity to have a family, which both of them desired very much. Over the years Maxine has had many dogs of which she spoiled and treated as her children. When she had to go to assisted living, she had Mookie, her dog who was a constant companion to her. Mookie was brought to visit her the day she passed away. He was very tender with her showering lots of hugs & kisses on her. That was a very special moment that I was fortunate enough to be able to share with her.

Maxine developed lots of hobbies after Bert’s passing. She loved to crochet. She made afghan’s for just about everyone in the family. She loved to read, especially the LDS novels and the Ensign. Maxine adored the Utah Jazz. She rarely missed a game. Tweety Bird was her favorite Looney Tunes character. She loved yellow very much. Yellow & White became her wedding colors.

She became a crossing guard for the Cache County School District. She loved all of the children that she helped across the street. So often we talked about the kids and how nice & respectful they were to her.

Maxine lived in a very special neighborhood that looked out for her and cared about her. We thank all of you for that.

Maxine you are loved. You will be missed. Till we meet again.

Maxine is survived by her siblings; Garry & Mary Lynn Jorgensen Hyde Park, Utah; Keith Jorgensen Malad, Idaho; Ray & Irene Jorgensen Millville, Utah; Joyce Maughan Hyrum, Utah. Maxine is also survived by many Nieces & Nephews whom she cared about very much.

Maxine was preceded in death by her husband Albert; her Parents; Albert’s parents; her Sisters-In-Law Nadine Cunningham & Regina Matthews; Brother-In-Law Richard Maughan; Niece Patricia Joyce Maughan; her two Aunts, Fay Larsen and Joan Nielson.

Funeral services will be held at 12:00 PM on Monday, February 13, 2023 in the White Pine Chapel, 753 South 100 East in Logan.  A viewing will be held prior to the services at White Pine from 10:30 to 11:30 AM.  Burial will be in the Providence City Cemetery.  There will be a luncheon provided for family & friends following the burial at 420 West 100 North, Providence, Utah.
