MaKenzie Ann Casteel

August 20, 1999 — October 7, 2025

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of MaKenzie Ann Casteel, who left this world far too soon on October 7, 2025, in Winter Springs, Florida. Born on August 20, 1999 in Ogden, Utah, she was a vibrant spirit whose impact on those around her will forever be cherished and missed.

MaKenzie graduated with honors from Lehi High School in 2017, actively participating on the cheer team at both Preston and Lehi High Schools. She furthered her education at Dixie State University, graduating with honors with a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology in 2021. Throughout her academic pursuits, her bright personality and infectious smile drew many to her, forming many special bonds with special lifelong friends.

Kenzie’s journey through life was filled with love, laughter, and adventure. As a beloved daughter, sister, and friend, her empathetic nature and hardworking spirit radiated in every interaction, illuminating the lives of everyone she touched. She loved her siblings and had a special relationship with each of them in a very personal and deliberate way. Kenzie had a unique ability to create personal and unforgettable connections with those around her. The inside jokes, heartfelt conversations, shared smiles and laughter will remain etched in the memories of her family and friends forever.

Kenzie worked as a Patient Care Technician at St. George Hospital, a role that showcased her dedication to nurturing and caring for others. She also spent time in the Disney College program and embraced the magic of Disney World in Orlando, Florida, where her adventurous heart found a home. She loved Florida for its weather, beaches, and sunshine and her stubborn heart even refused to leave during hurricanes.

Her love for creativity blossomed into her own crochet business, where she shared her talents with the world, her family, and her friends. Each creation was a piece of her huge heart reaching into the hearts of many. She not only worked making creations for those she loved, but she also worked extra hours as a pet nanny driving around in her beloved tiny blue car “Blueberry” taking care of other pets wherever she could. Kenzie nurtured a profound love for animals, caring for them with a depth that few could match. Her bond with every living creature was a reflection of her compassionate spirit, which extended to those she loved.

Kenzie had an extraordinary passion for travel and exploration, visiting places like Thailand, Cambodia, Vietnam, Bali, Singapore, the Bahamas, Mexico, and many places across the United States, with Paris holding a special place in her heart. Her personality was a beautiful mix of hard work and play; she loved deeply and put her heart into everything she did. Her determination was unwavering, and no one would stand in her way of getting the things she wanted in life.

MaKenzie is survived by her loving parents, Darrell (Kelly) Casteel and Tana Crookston. She leaves behind her cherished siblings: Taylor (Haley), Tayson (Lalita), Keagan, Carsen, Griffin, Lillyann, Cole, Quinn, and Austin, as well as her adored nephew, Sheamus. She also leaves behind her beloved kitties Lucy, Tuna, Ravioli, and Maggie. MaKenzie also holds a special place in the hearts of her grandmothers, Christy Casteel and Nathalia Crookston, and many aunts, uncles, and cousins, all of whom will carry her memory with them forever.

Her grandfathers, Steven Casteel and Newell Crookston, preceded her in death, and while their absence is felt deeply, their love for MaKenzie lives on in the stories shared and the memories celebrated. Her dear “Angel” dog Henry also preceded her in death and no doubt has already licked her face too much for her to handle.

As we remember Kenzie, we reflect on the light she brought into our lives, the joyous moments we shared, and the lasting memories in our hearts. She was a true princess at heart, a shining star whose legacy of love, laughter, and kindness will continue to inspire us all. May her legacy live on until that beautiful day we get to hold her in our arms again, this time for eternity.
