Born to an entrepreneur farmer and a saint of a woman, Lorene was the second of 8 children. Known far and wide for their talent, dedication, and service, Lorene played her important part in the Ashby family. Dearly loved by her siblings, Lorene would do anything for her family both as they grew up together and when they each started and raised families of their own. Those strong Ashby family ties became a foundation for the family Lorene dreamed of and would later create.
With astounding commitment and servant love, Lorene raised a beautiful daughter and 5 sons with grace and intention. Through the years and experiences including highs and lows, Lorene poured life and love into the little humans she made. As a result they grew with conviction and a desire to represent their mother well out of the deepest of respect. She faced the laughter, disappointments, joy, and heartbreaks with a fierce love that ensured togetherness would always be. Not one time did she complain about being a mother. Never did she speak a negative word about the work it took to raise 6 children to adulthood.
Lorene would never give up on love. Mid-way through her life she found Paul, her perfect companion and friend. Paul added 3 more wonderful children to her life providing even more opportunities for her to bless others. As their children started families of their own, Paul and Lorene enjoyed supporting and sharing experiences with their children and grandchildren. The life they built together was full of laugher and joy, support and love.
Out of her grateful heart, Lorene loved well and worked tirelessly. Her dedication to those around her was inspiring to all who received her support, guidance, and service. Countless individuals who lived within Lorene’s reach were blessed by her thoughtfulness, creativity, and joy. Her faith and convictions are clearly known and admired by all who knew her. She was exceptional at goal setting and putting in the hard work to achieve what she put her mind to, always willing to adjust when the goal got bigger.
Growth out of love was Lorene’s heart. She was dedicated to the growth in her children, those around her, her garden and orchard, and her own life. The following words were found in her journal. May they inspire your fight for love, something better, and a life well lived…
“Your vision must be greater than your baggage. You cannot allow the challenges of your past circumstances to dictate your future. Live out of your imagination not your history. Hold the vision of the better life for you and your family. Take responsibility. Exercise the faith and power you have within you to create that better life.”
