Smithfield, UT - On April 18, 2026 Leland Anderson Cottle, beloved husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, son, brother, and friend returned home to his Heavenly Father.
Leland was born on July 16, 1928, in Stone, ID to Leland Thomas Cottle and Clara Irene Anderson. He was raised in Stone, ID, and Trenton, UT, with his three sisters and four brothers. Leland proudly served as a tank mechanic in the United States Army from 1950-1952 stationed in Japan and Korea. On April 22, 1953, Leland married his sweetheart, Laree Andrew, in the Logan Temple. They lived in Trenton for the first seven years of their marriage. In 1960 they moved to Logan and lived there for the next 40 years. Leland graduated from USU in 1961.
Leland worked at the Turkey Plant, Pack Motor Company, Baum Motor Company, and Nelson Mortuary. In 1961 he started his lifetime career selling life insurance for various insurance companies. He loved to meet people, service their insurance needs, and became lifelong friends with coworkers and clients.
Leland and Laree raised 3 daughters and 2 sons. Leland was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and he served in many ward and stake callings and as an ordinance worker in the Logan Temple. After 47 years of marriage, Laree passed away on September 25, 2000.
While serving in the Logan Temple, Leland met June Abrams in 2001. They were married and moved to Providence, UT where they resided until their move to Smithfield, UT in 2025.
Leland loved to travel for work and pleasure. He loved to be with his family and supported them in all their activities. His hobbies included gardening, boating, wood working, playing games, and spending time with his family.
He is survived by his wife, June Abrams Cottle; daughters, Cheryl Atwood, Gaye Hatch (Randy), Lesa Crook (Lynn); son, Jason A. Cottle (Kristen); daughter-in-law, Sandy Cottle; 17 grandchildren, 42 great grandchildren; and brothers, Ed Cottle, Steve Cottle, and Melvin Cottle. He was preceded in death by his wife, Laree Andrew Cottle; son, Kevin A. Cottle; son-in-law, Michael B. Atwood; parents; brother, Wally; and sisters, Bea, Alice, and Lea.

A viewing will be on Friday, April 24 from 6:00 - 8:00 pm at White Pine Funeral Services, 753 S 100 East, Logan, UT. An additional viewing will be held from 10:30 - 11:30 am on Saturday, April 25 at the Cobblestone 1st Ward Chapel, 420 W 100 N, Providence, UT, with funeral Services following at 12:00 pm.
Interment will be held at the Trenton, UT Cemetery.
