He was a lifelong member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, having served in the scouting program and as a Sunday School teacher, after which he served many years as a ward financial clerk. He enjoyed reading Church publications and listening to General Conference. He also enjoyed a few trips to the West Coast and a couple of trips to Texas, but mostly he liked being at home. Even after retirement, he enjoyed watching the operation of his former acreage. He loved it when his grandchildren and great-grandchildren came to the farm to visit.
