Kylee Sonja Whisler, aged 22, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, February 26, 2024. Born in Salt Lake City, Utah, on January 24, 2002, she was adopted at the age of three by Lance and Anna Whisler, who were overjoyed to welcome their "little cherub" with her giggly smile, bright blue eyes, and chubby cheeks into their lives.
Growing up alongside her biological siblings Austin and Izumi, and later, her younger brother Jayden, Kylee's life was a tapestry of love, resilience, and determination. Despite early life challenges, she blossomed into a strong, fiercely independent young woman, known for her leadership, sensitivity, and at times, her notorious stubbornness.
Kylee had a deep connection with nature and a passion for outdoor adventures, often joining her father, Lance, in various projects and explorations. Her creative soul found expression in poetry and songwriting, sharing her innermost feelings with her mother, Anna. She struggled at times to feel worthy of love but always came back stronger, recognizing and overcoming her challenges while offering forgiveness to those she loved.
The reconnection with her birth family in recent years brought additional joy to her life. Kylee cherished the relationships with her birth mother, Marcia, and her siblings Destiny and Micaela, expanding her circle of love and support.
Kylee's life, though marked by obstacles, was a journey of unwavering determination and growth. She embodied her mother's hard work ethic and her father's "can do" attitude. Her most recent life was graced by the love of her life, Riker, who provided tender care and support until her untimely departure.
She leaves behind a legacy of passion, affection, and a heart that loved unreservedly. Kylee's love for animals was profound, especially for her beloved cat, Tripp, who was by her side in her final moments.
Kylee is survived by her parents, Lance and Anna Whisler; siblings Austin, Izumi, and Jayden; her boyfriend Riker; and her cat Tripp. She also leaves behind her grandparents, Mark and Karen Lacy, and Brad Whisler. She also leaves behind family members who were extensively involved in her upbringing such as her aunts and uncles Brian, Sarah, Kevin, Lisa (Jesse), Brooklyn, Andrea (Raheem), and 12 cousins.
The Whisler family extends their heartfelt gratitude to Kylee's partner, Riker Hobbs, for his unwavering care particularly in the days preceding her death, and to the first responders in Smithfield, Utah, whose extensive efforts to save her provided great comfort to the family. Special appreciation goes to the law enforcement and victims advocate who delivered the heartbreaking news to the family
Kylee's life, though brief, was a vivid tapestry of love, struggle, and triumph. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered for the light she brought into the lives of all who knew her. Her family looks forward to creating a non-profit in her name to support victims of trauma in accessing therapeutic services. In lieu of flowers, please consider sending any monetary donations to this non-profit once it is established.
