Obituary

Jill Weight Sheffer, 65, passed away April 11, 2026 peacefully surrounded by family.

She was born October 23, 1960 in Logan, Utah to Glen and Hazel Weight and was the oldest of 10 children. Jill was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and served in many callings in the Primary, Young Women, and Relief Society. She married Robert Harris Sheffer and was sealed in the Salt Lake Temple November 1, 1980. Jill graduated from Brigham Young University with a Bachelor of Fine Arts.

Above all, Jill cherished her role as a mother. She was the proud and loving mother of nine children. Her home was a place of encouragement, hard work, and unconditional love. She had a great love for the Gospel of Jesus Christ and shared that love through her day-to-day actions. Though she was not able to serve a full-time mission herself, she supported eight of her children as full-time missionaries. Jill had a great passion for the arts. She loved to read and amassed a great deal of knowledge through reading books. She was a creator of many beautiful things. She could design, build, paint, sew, and do any needlework. She loved to make and listen to music. Jill had a beautiful alto voice and sang in many choirs throughout her life, including the Kearns High School Madrigals, and various church choirs. She could also cook and bake many delicious dishes. She was passionate about gardening. Her yard was beautiful and nutritious with a great big vegetable garden, many flowers and shrubs, and an orchard.

Jill loved the great outdoors and camping. She could cook just as well over a campfire as she could in her own kitchen.

Jill was an excellent leader, and served in various leadership positions including the President of the Utah Peace Officer's Association Auxiliary, also regional sports director, as Relief Society president, and as a cub scout leader.

One of Jills greatest passions was genealogical research. She knew her ancestors--their names and their stories. She shared their stories with her family and brought many of their names to the temple to receive the ordinances of salvation.

Jill is preceded in death by her father, Glen A. Weight, and sister, Peggy Weight. She is survived by her husband, Robert H. Sheffer; mother, Hazel H. M. Weight; her children, Mark (Karenann) Sheffer, Jamie (Jia Zhong) Wei, Teri Sheffer, Heather (Nathan) Larsen, Lance (Amanda) Sheffer, Krista (Benjamin) Carles, Matthew (Ashlee) Sheffer, Eden Sheffer, and Joseph (McKenzie) Sheffer; 18.5 grandchildren; and her siblings Debra (Leo) Durkin, Cheri (John) Sproul, Gregory (Cheryl) Weight, Pamela (Troy) Wertz, Elizabeth (David) Richens, Laura (Greg) Steinike, Annette (Wyatt) Germer, and James (Jami) Weight.

A viewing will be held on Monday April 20th, 2026 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at White Pine Funeral Home, 753 South 100 East, Logan, Utah . An additional viewing will be held Tuesday morning, April 21st, 2026 from 9:30-10:30 a.m. at the Paradise Church building, 9060 South 200 West in Paradise, Utah.
