Jill Gerstner

January 14, 1962 — August 2, 2024

Jill Gerstner, age 62, passed away on Friday, August 2, 2024. She was moved to Rocky Mountain Care facility on Thursday, August 1, after suffering a stroke earlier in the week and passed peacefully with her family by her side. Jill was born on January 14, 1962, in Salt Lake City, Utah, to Jerry and Linda (Eliason) Gerstner. She is the second of 6 children.

As a young child, Jill enjoyed being outdoors. She loved her time in 4H showing her horse, Patches. These were happy memories that she had with her Dad. Jill was born with nurturing instincts; she was always found helping her younger siblings. That nurturing instinct only intensified as she grew up. Her greatest wish was to be a mom and have a family. At 13 years old her parents moved the family to a farm in Paradise UT. Jill loved being outside and helping her Dad. In 1977, Jill’s dad passed away and it became necessary to hire some help for the farm and a young man named Blake Olsen was hired. Jill and Blake started dating a few months later. They were married on June 2, 1978. Although they later divorced, they raised five children together.

She attended Sky View High School and later earned her GED, which she was very proud of. The pride she felt in completing her GED made her want to continue learning so she enrolled in the CNA course at Bridgerland Technical College. After receiving that certification, she went on to study Phlebotomy. Jill found her true happiness in the embrace of her family, during their hunting and camping trips and the serene mountain getaways. The cherished days at Grandma and Grandpa Dickey's pool and the fun 'Sunday home with the family' traditions were the highlights of her life, filling her heart with love and joy. Her home was immaculately lived in, always full of love and laughter and everyone was welcome. Jill loved to be in the kitchen baking with her kids and grandkids. She was an avid crafter and enjoyed doing that with family. She was also an amazing seamstress. Jill could make a dollar stretch further than anyone! She had a love of music; she was in plays and musicals in her junior high years. Later in life, she used music as a tool for comfort and strength. With all the joys that motherhood brought Jill, she also endured a lot of heartache.

Upon her passing, Jill was tenderly reunited with three of her children: Stephanie who she lost during pregnancy, Tyler who passed away 19 years ago in an accident and Trevor, who lost his battle with addiction three months ago. Though her family on earth is devastated with the sudden loss of Jill, the picture that we have of her in our hearts and minds of her holding her kids on the other side brings us great comfort and peace.

She is also preceded in death by her grandparents, her parents, Jerry and Linda Gerstner, father-in-law, Tom Dickey, and a brother-in-law. Jill is survived by her sons Michael (Lacey) Olsen, Matt (Cindy) Olsen and her daughter Stacey Avery. She leaves behind 5 grandchildren, Katie, Tyson, Taegan (Kaden), Kambria, Auriella and 1 great grandson Nolan. She is also survived by her siblings, Jerilyn Frimmel, Kelley (Cory) Hubbard, Kristie (Jason) Larsen, Joshua (Loni) Ford and Jonathan (Ashley) Ford and many nieces and nephews. As well as the Dickey family.

Funeral Services will be held Saturday, August 10, 2024, at 12:00 pm with a viewing prior from 10:00am – 11:30am at White Pine Funeral Home 753 S. 100 E. Logan. UT. The interment will be in the Paradise City Cemetery. The family would like to thank Jill’s special friends, Keith and Kathy Nelson for their years of friendship, love, care, and support of Jill. As well as the ER staff at Logan Regional Hospital, the Neurology team at McKay Dee Hospital, and especially Kristie Wilkinson and Jamie Bruen of Rocky Mountain Care and Erin Hyde of Sunshine Hospice for their loving care of Jill.
