Gregory Kurn Shannon, born on March 5, 1949, in Oakland, California, peacefully passed away on July 27, 2025, at Logan Regional Hospital, surrounded by his loved ones. His life was marked by warmth, generosity, and a sense of humor that brought joy to all who knew him. His youth was spent in Chico, California where he engaged in a lot of shenanigans when he wasn’t working in the almond orchards.

During the summer between college semesters, Gregory took on the challenging role of a forest firefighter in California. This experience undoubtedly shaped his character and taught him the value of life. Gregory graduated from Chico State University, earning a Bachelor's Degree in business. He began his career as a sales representative and later as a purchasing agent, where his work ethic and skills in negotiation were valued. He carried forward the lessons of gratitude and positivity that he embodied throughout his life. He had a unique ability to express gratitude, ensuring everyone felt valued and appreciated in his presence.

From his first marriage, Gregory was blessed with his daughter Kelly. In 2008, Gregory married his beloved wife, Debi, in the Reno, Nevada Temple, adding her 6 children to his family. From their very first moments together, Greg and Debi felt an undeniable connection, a "click" that would define their relationship. Together, they served as employment service missionaries for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Cache Valley and worked as temple workers in the Logan, Utah Temple. Debi fondly recalls these years as some of their best, filled with service and dedication to others.

It was an honor for Gregory to be a grandfather. He cherished the moments he had with his grandchildren, such as sitting beside his grandson during his time in the NICU, sharing his love and voice to comfort him. These tender moments of connection truly highlight the depth of his humanity and devotion to family. Gregory found immense joy in spending time with his children and grandchildren, actively participating in their activities, from cheering at sporting events to attending performances. He was a constant support, a source of pride, and a guiding light in their lives.

Gregory is survived by his wife, Debi; seven children; 24 grandchildren; and one brother, Matt Shannon. He was preceded in death by his parents, Gerald and Virginia, and his three siblings, Malcom, Jerry, and Victoria.

The legacy of Gregory will be cherished by many. His positive spirit, unwavering gratitude, and service to family and community have left an enduring mark on all who were fortunate enough to know him.
