Gloria Jean Bennett

July 6, 1940 — November 17, 2023

Logan, Utah

Gloria Jean Nelson Bennett, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away on Friday, November 17, 2023, surrounded by her loved ones. Gloria was born in Brigham City, Utah, on July 6, 1940, to Martella and Hazel Atkinson Nelson. She was the oldest of three daughters who enjoyed a happy childhood in Perry, Utah. As a young girl she loved to play softball and was active in numerous groups and clubs at Box Elder High School. One of her favorite memories from high school was performing with the A Capella Choir in Pasadena, California. In 1958 Gloria married her high school sweetheart, Marion Hyde, and together they raised four children in Logan, Utah. They were later divorced. After her youngest child entered elementary school, she took literature and art classes at USU. Her interest in literature continued throughout her life. Reading and discussing books at book club were two of her favorite pastimes. She also enjoyed scrapbooking and creating handmade birthday cards for her family members. Gloria was never afraid to tackle a new challenge, learning new skills for her various jobs. She worked for the Vet Science department at USU for a couple of years before she became a property manager for RVA Realty. She earned her real estate license in 1988 and worked as a realtor for 12 years, winning Rookie of the Year in 1990.

She married Marvin Bennett in 1987. They traveled extensively throughout the United States, Canada, Europe, and Mexico. They enjoyed spending time with friends and participating in dance club, and they celebrated 36 anniversaries together.

She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served as chorister for 18 years. She believed in the power of prayer and the blessings of the priesthood. Gloria is known for her great smile and unforgettable laugh, her genuinely warm personality, and loving heart. Family was the most important part of her life, and she would want her friends and family to celebrate a life well lived.

Gloria is survived by her husband Marvin of Logan; children Christine Hyde Davis (J. Rio), Hyde Park; Corie Hyde Crouch (Larry), Charlotte, NC; M. Brian Hyde (Karen), Smithfield; and Matthew Nelson Hyde (Jennifer), Logan. She has 15 grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great-grandson. Another great-grandchild and a great-great-grandchild are expected soon. She is preceded in death by her parents, Martella and Hazel Nelson, and her sisters Carol Hurst and Ronda Nelson.
