Glenna Faye Adair Reynolds departed from this world peacefully to return home to her Heavenly Father on February 23, 2026, at the golden age of 91. She was ready to leave this mortal life and reunite with her husband Lamar, son Larry, 1 grandchild, and 2 great-grandchildren, who preceded her in death.
Glenna and her twin sister Linna were born August 8, 1934, in Ramah, Lawrence County, Tennessee, to Robert Alonzo (Lonnie) Adair, Sr., and Bertha Gemima Emmaline Melton Adair. She joined 8 half-siblings – Ira, Imons, Gerdis, Alton, Magdelene, Sallye, Eva, and Jewell from Lonnie’s first marriage, and her full sister, Loraine. After Glenna and Linna, more children were born – Robert (Tarzan), Landon, Rhasye Dale, Mattie, Hallye, Elmer, and Virginia - completing their family.
She was named after her Grandfather Glenn. She and Grandpa were always buddies! She was also referred to as “the little twin,” being shorter than her twin sister Linna.
She cherished her southern heritage. She was proud of growing up in a family that placed honesty and integrity at the forefront. They grew up poor, but she always cherished her childhood, saying that everyone was poor back then because of the depression. She learned to work hard on her parents’ farm, picking cotton, beans, and tending their vast garden. Free time was spent roaming the hills and neighborhoods and getting into mischief with her siblings, cousins, and neighbors.
During her teen years, her sister Loraine was sick with tuberculosis. Being next in line, she was often responsible for watching after her younger siblings and cooking for them. It was a fun and stressful time to be “in charge”. But she wanted to help her parents in any way she could and loved all of her siblings.
She graduated from high school in Loretto, Tennessee, in 1954. In her yearbook, her classmates used these words, “Her ways are ways of pleasantness,” to describe her. She often commented that she tried to be nice to everyone and never wanted to cause anyone offense.
While a senior in high school, she attended a cottage meeting being held by 2 missionaries from The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She said that this was the most important thing that ever happened in her life. At the meeting, the missionaries gave a Book of Mormon to everyone except her. She wasn’t really interested in that church but felt slighted for being left out. She asked why she didn’t get one, and the missionary asked her if she would read it if he gave her one. She responded that she would, although she didn’t really want to. However, she had given her word, so she did. That changed her life forever. She was baptized by Elder Lamar Reynolds on May 30, 1954. On June 24, 1955, they were married in the Mesa, Arizona Temple for time and eternity.
Following high school graduation and before marriage, Glenna traveled about 30 miles from home to work in a hospital as a nurse’s aide. She also began taking pre-nursing classes at the hospital, offered by a couple of doctors on the staff. This was the beginning of her journey to become a nurse. She became a Licensed Practical Nurse 20 years later in 1974, while living in Louisiana. She finally became a Registered Nurse in 1982 while living in Montana. She loved working as a nurse and enjoyed it until retirement. Even after her retirement, she used her nursing skills to support, extend, and save the lives of friends and neighbors.
After marrying in 1955, she and Lamar briefly lived in Luna, New Mexico. Shortly thereafter, they moved to Gainesville, Florida, so Lamar could pursue additional education at the University of Florida. While there, they had 3 children – Walter Duane, Sharon Kay, and Larry Anthony. Following Lamar’s receiving his PhD, they moved to Louisiana. Three more children, Marlon Glenn, Mary Ann, and Joan Elaine joined their family. Before Joan was born, however, tragedy struck their family, and they lost Larry at the young age of 6 years old. This was a difficult time, especially for Lamar and Glenna. After spending 20+ years in Louisiana, Lamar was transferred in 1977 by the USDA to Miles City, Montana, to work. They lived there until Lamar retired in 1990. After his retirement, they returned to Luna, New Mexico and Eagar, Arizona. Lamar departed this life while they were living there in December 2001. In 2003, Glenna moved to Providence, Utah, to be closer to her daughter, Joan. She lived in Providence until her passing. She has expressed that she has had the best neighbors in the world.
Glenna was preceded in death by her husband Lamar, son Larry, grandson baby boy Reynolds, 2 great-grandsons Levi Pinckard and Charlie Pinckard, parents Lonnie and Bertha Adair, parents-in-law Harry and Lottie Reynolds, brothers, sisters, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law Ira Adair and his wife Huddle, Imons Adair and his wife Carrie, Gerdis Adair and his wife Exie, Alton Adair and his wife Ida, Magdelene Smith and her husband Everett, Sallye O’Rear and her husband George, Eva Smith and husband George, Jewell James and her husband Hershel, Loraine Laney and her husbands H Reynolds, Leo Reynolds, Jeppe Wiebes, and Vernon Laney, twin sister Linna and her husband Tommy Minor, Sandra Adair, Bill Price, Elmer Adair and his wife Jessie, Steve Stradling, Bill Brown, Bill Nolan and his wife Naomi, Mary Reynolds, Max Reynolds and his wife Eva, David Reynolds and his wife Rosalee, Ralph Reynolds, Beth Cluff, Harold Reynolds, and Merle Reynolds.
