Gail Wilkins Trowbridge

February 2, 1936 — June 19, 2024

Gail Wilkins Trowbridge was born February 2, 1936,  in the small farming community Coltman, Idaho, located just north of Idaho Falls. Her parents were James Ralph Wilkins and Eva Lina (Judd) Wilkins. After a valiant battle with cancer, she passed away peacefully in her home on June 19, 2024. She was preceded in death by her husband Robert Trowbridge, her brothers Ralph and Reuel Wilkins, and her sister Alita Romney.

Gail was active in the student council at Bonneville high. She went on to attend both Ricks College and BYU. It was while attending BYU, she reconnected with her childhood friend Robert Trowbridge. They were married and have been together since 1957. They lived together for a brief time in Ogden Utah and later moved to Cache valley, settling in Providence where they raised their family.

Gail Worked at Grand Central, now Smith’s Market Place for over 40 years. She was also active in local politics, serving as a state delegate for the Republican party multiple times. She volunteered as an election judge for many years. She was on the Providence Historical Society board and she loved being an active member of the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers. She enjoyed spending time with her many friends in her literary club and her out-to-lunch bunch. Gail was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in many callings, including Relief Society President and Sunday School Teacher. She especially loved teaching children and teenagers.

She loved the outdoors. She loved camping, hiking, canoeing, bird watching, and spent many hours sitting on the bank of a river reading while her husband fished. Her house and yard were her sanctuary. Gardening, cooking, and entertaining her family brought so much joy to her life.

She is survived by her children, Ruth Riches, (spouse Alan Riches), Anne Wood (spouse Roger Wood), and Ross Trowbridge (spouse Marla Trowbridge). She has seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. She was known for her kindness and charitable nature. Gail will be missed by her many friends and family.
