Eva Lou Blair Wiser

September 30, 1935 — November 20, 2024

Providence, UT

Eva Lou Blair Wiser, passed away peacefully, on November 20, 2024, at the Legacy House-Park Lane in Farmington, Utah. She was born September 30, 1935, in Lewiston, Utah. She was the oldest of three children born to Harold William (Pat) and Beth (Parkinson) Blair. Her loving grandmother, Evans Beth Troop Parkinson and her motherly aunt Mamie Troop Cronk played an important role in raising her. She graduated from North Cache High School in 1953 and attended Utah State University. She was known for the poetic readings she frequently gave while in high school. In 1950, she gave a memorable reading at the missionary farewell of a young man in her ward, who unbeknownst to either of them, would become her future husband.

On February 17, 1955, she married James Gordon Wiser in the Logan LDS Temple. They were married for 69 years. They were blessed with three children, Ron, Bob, and Shelly. She loved being a mother and teacher to her children, while making her home a wonderous and engaging place. Gordon was an aeronautical engineer, so they lived in California, Washington, Alabama, and Texas while raising their children.

In 1971, Gordon and Eva Lou returned to Utah, and Eva Lou graduated with a degree in elementary education from Utah State. She taught 1st and 3rd grade for more than 30 years in the Cache County School District. She was a beloved teacher of her students, who often would come up to her as adults in Cache Valley and thank her for what she taught them.

Eva Lou was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints throughout her life and a life-long disciple of Christ. She served diligently in many callings in the Relief Society, Primary, and Young Women’s organizations. In later life, Gordon and Eva Lou were service missionaries in Logan at Deseret Industries. Eva Lou was a part of their literacy and ESL programs. Gordon and Eva Lou spent much of their retirement in the Cobblestone subdivision in Providence and Eva Lou enjoyed her friends and book clubs there. She was a talented artist and excellent seamstress. There were times in her younger life when she made clothes for her and her children. She could make extraordinary jewelry and had an eye for drawing and seeing beauty in the world. When they lived in St. George, she was a museum docent. In the library system, she was a much-requested storyteller for children. She loved to shop and could be seen at Chico’s even into her late 80s. Eva Lou loved her dogs, Cici, Mimi, Kiki, Zizi, and Buddy, who were treated as well as children.

Eva Lou is survived by her children, Ron (Cindy), Bob (Bev), Shelly and dear friend of the family, Kathy Mickelsen, seven grandchildren, Trina (Matt Call), Robert (Tjasha), Tisha (Ryan Wheelwright), JT (Sara), Dave (Kristy), Logan (Michaela), Andrew (Kielee), and 19 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her younger sister, Susan (Jay Ellis Allen), one sister-in-law Bev (Denny Wiser) and many other family and friends. She was predeceased by her parents, infant brother, beloved husband, Gordon who passed away on November 11, 2024, and other much loved family members and friends
