Ellen Earley

January 8, 1933 — May 4, 2022

North Logan

Heaven received an angel on May 4, 2022.  Ellen Marie Earley passed away at the age of 89 in her home in North Logan.  She survived COVID, but not diabetes.

Ellen Marie Earley was born on January 8, 1933, to John Thomas and Mary Ann Howard in Smithfield, Utah.  She is the eighth of nine children.  Ellen graduated from North Cache High School in 1951.

She met Oliver Earley at the Elite Hall in Hyrum and they were married in June of 1953 in the Logan LDS Temple.  They had 6 kids and raised their family in Lewiston where they farmed.  They later divorced.

Ellen was a cook for Cache County schools for 24 years, 21 at Lewiston Elementary and 3 at Providence Elementary.  Ellen loved to travel.  She enjoyed gardening.  She loved to bake and could make amazing bread and jellies.  She also loved to crochet, sew, knit, and cross stitch.  She loved to read and do puzzle books.  You would very seldom see her without a Diet Coke in hand.

Ellen was active in the Daughters of Utah Pioneers both in Lewiston and in North Logan.  She was also a member of the Red Hat Society.

Ellen is a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and loves her Savior, Jesus Christ.  Over the years she has held many church callings.  She served as a missionary in the Missouri St. Louis Mission from 2008-2009 where she served in the mission office.  She loved her mission, her companion, and the missionaries she served with.

The one thing she loved the most was her family visits.  She loved their hugs and kisses.  Her family was her biggest blessing.

Ellen is survived by her children Pam (Tom) McDaniel, Hyrum; Perry (Stacy) Earley, Lewiston; David (Charlotte) Earley, Smithfield; Sue Ann Earley, North Logan; Brian (Christine) Earley, Nibley; her sister, DeAnn (Dean) Larsen, Clinton; many nieces and nephews; 12 grandchildren; 23 great grandchildren; and 1 great-great grandchild (due in September 2022).

Ellen was preceded in death by her parents; her siblings Grant, Rema, Earl, Lorin, infant, Bonnie, and Jack; her son, Kent; and 1 grandson, Jeremy Hillyard.

Graveside services will be held at 12:00 PM on Monday, May 9, 2022, at the North Logan Cemetery, 2075 East 2500 North in North Logan.  A viewing will be held prior to the services from 9:00 to 11:30 AM at the Greenville Ward building, 2540 North 400 East in North Logan.

The family would like to give a big thank you to Dr. Faux for his love and for taking such good care of Mom.  They would also like to thank the CNAs, especially nurse Holly, for helping with her hospice care.
