Dora Kaylene (Knight) Gray

Dora Kaylene (Knight) Gray, 84, of Hyde Park, UT, passed away on September 11, 2026, surrounded by her loving family.

Born on October 7, 1941, in Salt Lake City, she was the daughter of Dora Lloyd (Knight) and Brownie Knight. Dora was a school teacher in the Uinta Basin, but died 17 days after giving birth to her only child, Kaylene. She subsequently grew up in Salt Lake City, being raised by her father’s brother and his wife, where her two cousins became her brother and sister.

As a dedicated homemaker, she poured her heart into creating a warm, welcoming home and nurturing her family, which was her greatest pride and joy. She was a remarkable cook who took great pride in always having a hot meal ready for her family.

She shared 60 beautiful years of marriage with her husband, K. Howard Gray, where they were sealed in the Salt Lake Temple. After that sealing, her life was spent in New York, Ohio, California, Pennsylvania, and finally Utah again. Together, they built a life centered on love, faith, and hospitality. As a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Kaylene was dedicated to her callings and to all those around her. She was a beloved Primary teacher who spent many years working with the children of her ward, sharing her love and gentle guidance.

Her true passion in life was her family. She was remarkably kind to all and always made sure that the needs of others were ahead of her own. Her wisdom, grace, and gentle nature left an indelible mark on everyone who knew her.

Her legacy lives on through her surviving family: her beloved husband, Howard; her children, Brandt Gray and his spouse Jennifer of Smithfield, UT, Andrew Gray and his spouse Missie of Surfside, SC, and Allison Beecher and her spouse Willie Beecher of North Logan, UT. She will also be deeply missed by her grandchildren, Max Gray (spouse Eva), Abby Oldham (spouse Casey), Gracie Beecher, Hannah Gray, Olivia Gray, Lily Beecher, Jack Beecher, and Callie Beecher, extended family members, and lifelong friends.

She will be buried in the North Logan Cemetery.

In accordance with Kaylene’s wishes, there will be no traditional funeral service. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
