Diana Cecille Hanson-Steadman, 84, passed away at Logan (Utah) Regional Hospital Hospice Care on Thursday, October 30, 2025, after a traumatic fall and a lifetime battle with thrombocytopenia.
She was born at a very early age in Rochester, Minnesota to Richard Gilman Hanson and Marjorie Hope Waldron. She was the second of their three children. Jane Ann Hanson was the oldest and Richard Gary Hanson was the youngest. Diana was raised in Rochester for her first ten years and then moved with her family to Albuquerque, New Mexico where she lived until well into her thirties.
Some of her cherished memories from Minnesota included the special friendship she had with her dog KoKo in Rochester. KoKo followed her to school most days and would be waiting there when Diana and her siblings were ready to return home. She learned how to play ice hockey when the local school playground was flooded and froze during the frigid Minnesota winters.
Diana's father taught her how to dance by letting her put her feet on his; and her Mom taught her how to sing. Diana was an amazing dancer and singer!
Diana often talked about learning to enjoy New Mexican food during her youth and teenage years. She was particularly fond of Pasole and made the best! She became a marvelous cook and her children learned that skill from her.
She married Joseph Geno Scorsone and together they had three amazing children: JoLayna Hope, Mitchell Paul, and Joseph Anthony. Some years after her divorce, Diana and the children moved to Salt Lake City, where Nicolas Ryan joined the family. Later in life she met and married Neal Steadman. They were subsequently sealed for time and all eternity in the Nauvoo Illinois Temple in 2005 and shared a partnership of nearly 28 years.
Diana is survived by her husband, Neal, and their children: (joyful) JoLayna, Fredonia, AZ; Mitchell (awesome Amy), Nibley, UT; (affable) Anthony, Tooele, UT; Nicolas (sweet SaDonna), Murray, UT; Kent (joyous Jodi) Toquerville, UT; (laudable) Laura, Daybreak, UT; Michael (beautiful Britney) SLC & Boulder, UT; Collin (courageous Cody), Clinton, UT; Carey Lynne (magnanimous Mike), Kaysville, UT; and Natalie (jovial Josh), Rogers, AR. She is also survived by many grandchildren, great grandchildren, and her siblings: Jane (terrific Terry), Hamilton, MT; and (gallant) Gary, Rio Rancho, NM; along with some very famous and loving nieces and nephews, in-laws, and many cherished cousins and members of the Waldron and Hanson Clans located near and far across the globe.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and her very best friend, Sara Horrocks.
Diana valued her relationships and it was important to her to love people well. She was very social and had a passion for going square dancing with her girlfriends. She enjoyed long drives and the Carpenters, and she loved being surrounded by her loved ones. She took a genuine interest in the people around her, and if ever you sat down and didn't know what to say, she'd never fail to ask the right questions to drag something out of you. Most of all, she loved her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ and strove to live as He wanted.
