Dee P. Hall

March 9, 1943 — May 22, 2026

Wellsville, Utah

Thomas Dee Poppleton Hall passed away at home on May 22, 2026. Dee was born in Wellsville, Utah, to Thomas Maughan Hall and Verda Larsen Poppleton on March 9, 1943. He and his sister, Carol Ann (Tony) Baer, enjoyed a wonderful childhood growing up in Wellsville. Dee explored the dam and surrounding foothills with his dog Salty and developed a love of fishing, hunting, and the great outdoors. He learned the value of hard work spending countless hours with his father working in the yard and on the family farm. He thought there was no better place on earth than Wellsville and found plenty of trouble to get into around town.

Dee was a gifted athlete - at an early age shooting baskets on the side lawn for hours on end. He graduated from South Cache High School, where he played basketball and baseball. His athletic abilities earned him a full scholarship to Utah State, where he was on both the baseball and basketball teams. After college, he enlisted in the Army National Guard.

While attending Utah State, Dee dated a young lady who matched his competitive nature and determination. He married Tana Ann Peterson in the Logan Temple. They were blessed with three children: Deeana (Devan) Hawkes, Dee Thomas (Holli) Hall, and Kristee Ann (Russell) Robbins. As he started his family, he understood love beyond measure as each of his children came into his life. He was very proud of his three children and supported them throughout their lives.

After graduating from USU with his degree in physical education and returning from the military, he began working at the Intermountain Indian School in Brigham City, Utah. He enjoyed his job and loved the students there. They became family. He taught physical education and driver education. He coached boys basketball and assisted with cross-country, track, and football. When the chance came to start a baseball program at Intermountain, Dee jumped at the opportunity. He designed and built the baseball field. Then he quickly began teaching the players a sport he enjoyed. He loved the Indian kids and valued their culture and traditions they shared with him and his young family. After the school closed, he worked at Hill Air Force Base until his retirement and later for Jack B. Parsons Construction Company.

Anyone who knew Dee understood that his greatest joy was his grandchildren and supported them in all that they did. He was their coach, beloved babysitter, fiercest protector, and trusted confidant. He cherished any time he could spend with them, whether it was hunting or fishing, watching baseball, softball, soccer or choir or attending a dance recital. He cared more about their happiness and well-being than his own.

Dee is survived by his sister, wife, children, and grandchildren: Bryar (Madison), Nikqel, Ryker, Addison, Kate, and Sawyer. He was preceded in death by his parents and his grandson, Ty.

Our family wished to express our sincerest appreciation to the many family members, lifelong friends and neighbors who so willingly served our dad. He enjoyed the treats and meals you shared and was grateful for the kindness and care you showed. He wanted nothing more than to be home in Wellsville, surrounded by family in his final days. We are grateful to his physician Dr. Lance Barker, Intermountain hospice team, and ComForCare for helping to make this possible.
