Cindy Ann Jones

March 5, 1969 — July 9, 2025

North Logan

Cindy Ann Jones, age 56, passed away peacefully, surrounded by family, at 11:54 p.m. on July 9, 2025, at Logan Regional Hospital.

Despite her disabilities, Cindy was recognized wherever she went in the communities of Newton and Logan, Utah. She was known for her beautiful smile and her trademark “high-five” greetings. She loved hugs and kisses. Although she faced many physical and intellectual challenges, her family and her dedicated staff at Cache Valley Treatment Alternatives (CVTA) helped her live as normal and full a life as possible. She loved her staff and friends dearly.

The family wishes to thank the staff at CVTA, her day program Stride Services, and the many doctors and medical teams who cared for her throughout her life, bringing her joy, happiness, and fulfillment.

Cindy graduated from Hillcrest High School and seminary. She loved music, often singing solos at special times in her life. She attended Special Needs Mutual and the University of Utah Institute for many years. She especially enjoyed dressing up in costumes and playing Mary in Christmas plays.

Some of her favorite activities included visiting the Newton Market and Library, talking on the phone with family and friends, and teasing her brother, who lovingly called her “Wooter.” She adored him and looked up to him very much. She loved spending sunny days at the Newton Park, drinking soda, and enjoying her favorite foods: shrimp, meatloaf, pizza, chocolate, and spaghetti.

One of her greatest joys was shopping at Lee’s Market in Smithfield and visiting with Debbie — “the flower lady,” as Cindy called her — whose kindness and love meant so much.

Cindy loved sports, especially the Utah Jazz and Utah State Aggies. She was thrilled to have her picture taken with Big Blue, the Aggie mascot, and never missed a game. Puzzles, Pac-Man, Wheel of Fortune, word searches, and singing western music with the radio were some of her favorite pastimes.

Over her lifetime, Cindy touched the lives of countless people she met. Doctors knew her well after 43 major surgeries; one remarked that she was the oldest person he had known with spina bifida. Her family will deeply miss her — she was so close to them and loved them fiercely.

Cindy loved studying the gospel with her parents and taught them much through her example. It brings comfort to know she is now whole and that they will see her again. She had a strong testimony of the gospel and loved her Heavenly Father deeply. She felt welcomed by the Newton Ward and enjoyed attending church and visiting with its members.

Cindy is survived by her parents, Bill and Sherrie Jones; her brother, Travis (Kelli); her niece Dakota (David) and their four children; and her nephews Jake and Parker. She was preceded in death by her grandparents LeRoy and Ethel Ferguson and Hyrum and Ruby Jones.
