Boyd Leigh Fullmer

February 16, 1937 — August 21, 2025

Logan, Utah

Boyd Leigh Fullmer graduated from the “School of Hard Knocks” at the grand age of 88. He passed away in the early morning hours of Thursday August 21st, 2025.

Boyd was born in the Idaho Falls Hospital on February 16, 1937, to Walter Leigh and Addie Belle Harris Fullmer. He grew up in the shadow of the beautiful mountain peaks in the Teton Valley. Growing up, he helped his father in the grocery store in meat production and stocking shelves. He enjoyed hunting and fishing with his dad and friends.

He attended Ricks College and earned an Associate's Degree. While at Rick’s College, he taught life saving, swimming, diving, and trampoline.

He also met and married Evelyn Mary Parkinson at this time. He and Evelyn had three children together: Kevin Merrill, Kristan, and Boyd Darren. He and Evelyn later divorced.

He managed the swimming pool at the Warm Springs Ranch, and the guest ranch about 10 miles outside of Jackson Hole, Wyoming. While there, he met and became friends with a budding guitarist, Rusty Draper, and his family at The Silver Dollar Bar.

He was a Davis County Sheriff Deputy. He trained his German Shepherd K-9 above Capitol Hill on Ensign Peak. The dog was trained to work with him in his duties as Deputy Sheriff.

He also managed the Clearfield swimming pool, teaching swimming, lifesaving, and diving. He taught the scouts first aid, swimming, and diving for their merit badges.

He married Sharee Dalene Sargent, who had three beautiful daughters: Kathy Lynn, Karen Lee, and Karla Rae. Boyd and Sharee had two children together, Douglas Boyd and Dalene Janae. They later divorced.

He became a manager for Miracle Maid Cookware. He and Sharee earned many expense-paid trips to the French West Indies, Guadalupe, and London England to name a few.

Boyd met Carolyn Ashcraft Petersen at an LDS singles dance in North Ogden. She had 6 children previously; Jesse Ray, David Wendell, Philip Wayne, Mathew Scott, Jennifer Lynn, and Jason Shawn. They married five years later on July 18th, 1986. And sealed on March 10th, 1995.

He worked in health and wellness as a consultant for Herbal Life and Youngevity. Later, he sold Legal and Identity Theft Insurance. He played Father Smith in the Martin Harris Pageant for eleven years. He loved theater and was in many local plays including; The King and I, Annie, My Fair Lady, and The Invincible Molly brown. He was a Ham Radio operator and provided radio support for bikers who rode in the Lotoja and Little Red Riding Hood bike races.

He and Carolyn served a 3 year mission at Temple Square in Salt Lake City. He was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and held many positions. Boyd felt very deeply about the effect music had on the youth and didn’t want them to have to dance to hard rock or heavy metal. He had 2 bands, one during his time at college called Easy Listening. They opened for the Opera at Dansante. His 2nd band was a dance band that played popular music and ballroom, but no hard rock. His band played for teenagers at the Elite Hall every winter until spring for 10-15 years. His most requested songs at reunions were “I’m my own Grandpa,” and “Elvira.”

Boyd’s Most Used Quotes:

Mean what you say and say what you mean.

When you had a problem, you earned it.

Do something, learn something, help someone.

Live life, don’t be a spectator.

He loved to eat a “death wad” (aka Hamburger) and shoot the bull.

Boyd is preceded in death by his father and mother, Walter Leigh and Addie Belle, sisters Valone Nelson and Doris Meikle, his son Kevin Fullmer, and daughter Dalene. Step children David Petersen and Karla Gladstone.
