Alma H. Leonhardt

April 30, 1942 — October 26, 2025

Providence, Utah

Alma Heide Leonhardt was born to Alma and Minna Elise Heide Leonhardt on April 30, 1942 in Logan, Utah. He attended South Cache High School, graduated in 1960, enlisted in the National Guard shortly after graduation and served honorably. He officially retired from the United States Army in 2002. At an early age, Alma lived for playing sports and played baseball, ran track, and wrestled during high school.

Alma met the love of his life, Pamela Larsen Maughan, at Pete's Spudnut Drive-in where Pam worked as a carhop. He owned the first 64 ½ Mustang in the valley which must have caused Pam to accidently spill a drink on him, sparking a love that would last over 60 years.

They married in the Logan, Utah LDS Temple on July 2, 1965, where they were sealed and married for all eternity. In the years to follow, Pam and Alma had two wonderful daughters, Candis and Kim, who were the joy of their lives (and slight pains in the rear).

Alma worked multiple jobs during his life including Jack's Tire and Oil, Pepsi, Wilson Motors, E.A. Millers and Lundahl's Astro Circuits, all while serving our nation in the National Guard.

At age 40 in 1982, Alma was in a motorcycle accident which left him as a partial quadriplegic. Despite these difficult and uncertain circumstances, Alma didn't let that define him and he continued to be a wonderful father, husband, brother, mayor, and much more.

Alma served as Mayor of Providence City from 1992 to 2006, serving the community honorably and diligently for years. He was also on the Providence City Council and was on the Cache Valley Transit District Board.Along with being Mayor, Alma was President of Cobblestone HOA Association where he served that community proudly.

Alma loved his family and frequently attended sporting events all around the valley of his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was their #1 Fan. He also loved watching sports, both on television and in person, specifically supporting the Utah State Aggies. Alma and Pam had season tickets for both football and basketball for many years, deeming him a true Aggie. He was an avid Nascar and Yankees fan. He loved to attend the American Festival concerts with his sweetheart. He loved riding snowmobiles, racing at the Bonneville Salt Flats and attended many hill climbs. He also snowmobiled with his friends after his life-changing accident. They received the award for the Most-Enduring Marriage of the Year under Governor Michael Leavitt.

Alma is survived by his wife Pam, his two daughters, Candis (Steve Nordfelt) and Kim (Michael Burbank), six grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, and his sister, Melva (Darin Reese). He was preceded in death by his parents, Alma and Minna, and six siblings Elwood, Willis, Lloyd, Fern (Jones Sibbets), LaRay (Godfrey) and Merlin.
